Crochet a Giant basket Tutorial

I made this basket using raffia as the core, and a simple single crochet stitch wrapped around it. The red you can see below is rough textural coconut fibre - seriously beauty-filled. The blue & white, with yellow raffia core, is a soft silky recycled denim & cotton.
You need approx 200g raffia,  and about 50-100m of a ball of your crochet fibre. I suggest using something with a bit of texture, weight, and it's own 'hold', such as coconut fibre, hemp or jute.
My supplies come from String Harvest (raffia & jute / coconut / hemp twine) and Wool & the Gang (recycled denim & cotton).
