Raffia - Hand Dyed Natural dye - for basket weaving

from 9.00

This natural raffia is perfect for making your own woven or stitched baskets, you can use it to core-fill for crochet, or basket weaving on it’s own.

I dye my raffia using natural kitchen scraps and natural dye techniques. This creates a beautiful colour range that can’t be replicated, and combines harmoniously together.

This listing is for a pre-order - it takes about 2+ weeks for me to dye then dry the raffia, before I can post it to you. The colours photographed aren’t exactly the colours I will create, but by pre-ordering you are supporting me in my creative process and my parenting role (both side by side, making & parenting).

I will be dyeing with avocado seeds to create earthy pinks, turmeric for vibrant yellow and indigo for greens and blues. Please leave a note to seller at check out if you’d like any browns (coffee) and can add that to my dye pots as well.

*I am listing these are a very reasonable price. Hand dyeing raffia is a long process involving days of dyeing and tending the colours - but my aim for my creative practice and my online shop is to allow others to create and make for themselves.

WANT TO LEARN How to Basket Weave? Check out my online course here, where I share step-by-step how to basket stitch your own beautiful pieces, as well as how to dye raffia using kitchen supplies.
IF you purchase my online course and at least 2 bundles of raffia I’ll send you a FREE needle that I use in my course, as well as a bundle of plain undyed raffia for FREE to use in your creations.
