Workshop Slow Stitch : Melbourne

Workshop Slow Stitch : Melbourne

from 65.00

Slow Stitch is one of the most beautiful things you might ever introduce to your daily life. Practicing the art of being gentle to yourself, Slow Stitch reminds us to breathe with each needle through thread movement.

Using the most delicious, treasured scraps of fabric, and the simple process of hand sewing, you'll learn how about Sashiko, Kantha and Boro, while stitching yourself a piece of cloth.

During the class we'll work on sample pieces, and then sew it into a little pouch perfect for holding a note book, your phone, treasured sewing supplies or for gifting. We'll also talk about using Slow Stitch for mending clothes or creating bespoke additions to your wardrobe & home.

In a world where things are thrown away, where people are rushing towards the next event or busy with things, Slow Stitch is a reminder of looking after our selves and our material goods.

This 3 hour workshop is deliberately set within the often 'full' (busy) days of post Christmas time, when you most likely need to step away from it all and nourish yourself for the New Year. We'll sip tea and nibble home baked cake, and we'll talk about the time honoured tradition of using our hands for creating new things.
